PAYNE SCORES EMOTIONAL ATLANTIC CITY WIN
ATLANTIC
CITY, NJ – January 14, 2007 . . . Talk about emotion.
As Joey Payne of Fairlawn, N.J., circled the Boardwalk Hall following a
victory in Saturday night’s “Gambler’s Classic” presented by Pepsi M&R
Midget (Three Quarter Midget and 600cc Micro-Sprint) main, his joy was
never more evident.
Payne’s win was worth over $6,000. However, this one was not about the
money.
Payne bested fellow Supermodified standout Lou Cicconi of Aston Pa., by
less than a car-length in the 40-lap main. Payne became the first driver
to win two headline events since Len Sammons brought racing back to
Boardwalk Hall following an absence of two decades in 2003.

A DREAM COMES TRUE, LOU CICCONI JR. WINS ATLANTIC CITY BOARDWALK HALL
‘GAMBLER’S CLASSIC” AUTO RACE
 ATLANTIC CITY, NJ
January 21, 2006 . . . The auto racing event Lou Cicconi Jr. has so
dearly wanted to win is finally on his resume.
Cicconi realized a longtime dream on Saturday night, capturing the
40-lap Atlantic City Indoor Race 'Gambler's Classic' A-Main for Three
Quarter Midgets and 600cc Micro-Sprints at Boardwalk Hall.
The 41-year from Aston, Pa., grew up attending the traditional
wintertime TQ Midget shows at the then Convention Hall, but the series
ended in 1981 before he could enter as a competitor. He was thrilled
when Len Sammons Productions revived the indoor spectacular in 2003 and
has been chasing a victory ever since.

Abbreviated After Snowstorm Creates State Of Emergency In NJ
ATLANTIC
CITY, NJ - A dramatic turn of events propelled dirt Modified veteran Jeff
Heotzler to victory in Saturday night's Atlantic City Indoor Race
"Gambler's Classic" at Boardwalk Hall.
Heotzler's chances appeared to be evaporating late in the 40-lap feature
as his TQ Midget's engine soured. But his fortunes changed completely mere
seconds after he relinquished the lead to another dirt Modified star,
Billy Pauch, on lap 38.
Before Pauch could even officially lead a lap, he lost control of his Don
Adams-owned car and spun entering turn three. The resulting caution flag
was a godsend for Heotzler, whose engine came back to life thanks to some
slow circuits.
Heotzler hung with leader Mike Dicely of Lewisberry, Pa., when the green
flag flew. He made his move on the final lap, diving underneath the
Micro-Sprint standout rounding turns one and two and surging ahead.
